The Heron of Mountains

Frost on the ground and a gently coloured morning sky makes the perfect backdrop for watching the moon setting over the Burren mountains.
Unique accommodation in the Burren.
Winter light and the fire lit; I think it is my favourite time of the year. Please visit my sister site Hanne’s Cottage’s seasonal blogpost to see the full collection of winter photographs from 2022-2023. In colours. Wishing you all a gentle New Year 2023. ~
2022 was a year of giving my all and everything to my dreams. My dreams had been patient. And they hadn’t given up on me. This year their time had finally come and was expressed through my photography art and through ‘Hanne’s Cottage’, beautifully linked. (There are more dreams and
“It is a dream come true and it is a beautiful way to support another love of mine; my art and photography. Speaking of which; ‘Hanne’s Cottage’ will have my work on the walls. It will become with time like staying in a photography gallery. Everything can be purchased directly off the walls.”
Our lives are woven by paths. Many of them. Moving through life, one foot in front of the other. Sometimes the paths create quite a maze. Although some paths are straightforward others are rather mystical. Some paths are crossing one another, maybe several times or they’re seemingly doubling back on themselves yet each time it is still a new path, a new moment, even if it more feels like a two step back… Yet, it is not. There is never a going back. Not on these kind of paths, the paths of life. And death.
Today an older poem resurfaced for my inner eye along with the photograph from Big Sur. Two paths joining up, along with hundreds of other paths. Doing what they always have done and will continue to do; being one path leading home. Inner as well as outer.
“How I go to the woods Ordinarily, I go to the woods alone, with not a singlefriend, for they are all smilers and talkers and thereforeunsuitable. I don’t really want to be witnessed talking to the catbirdsor hugging the old black oak tree. I have my way ofpraying, as you
Trees. Beautiful quiet presences. Shy canopies sharing harmoniously and generously the space with all life; a resting and a nesting place for migrating and overwintering birds alike, fresh air to breathe, shade on a hot summer’s day and timeless whispers of winds….
I’ve watched the moon rising and setting over the Burren this weekend leading up to the equinox; winter has completed its cycle and the sound and scents of spring are in the air. However, this full moon setting over the Burren is from 17 January 2022 while we were still
My new work had its first exposure to the public this past weekend at the Christmas Market in the Courthouse Gallery, Ennistymon. The reception was very moving. The encouraging words, the lovely conversations moving in many directions and the purchases people have made, watching not only my newest framed work but also older pieces and eco-friendly cards/small images to frame finding their way to people’s heart and into their homes. It is truly a blessing after many months of work and before that years of dreaming and planning gathering momentum and leading up to the moment where I had enough courage to take the leap (and growing my wings as I fall) into giving my photography art my full time and attention, no longer just a sidenote. A meaningful sidenote it was, nevertheless still just a sidenote.
Last time I posted was in May. Spring did arrive and so did the call of the outdoors. Now the leaves are letting go and the colours are turning orange and brown. The fire is lit and so are the candles. Equally the inner creative chamber has lit up and
For all of you who have followed my love for photography over the years, who have encouraged me over and over again and who have seen how my work has developed since many moons ago, I am thrilled to announce that my photography now will be available to purchase and
“Luka Bloom 2021”
I am grateful my lens was invited along on this journey of tunes from Luka Blooms newest album ‘Out of the Blue’ launched in March 2021. Both for the cover of the album and on a photoshoot with the man himself and his guitar.
The last wintry image in the series of this little beautiful red Burren whirlwind.
It is officially spring now, however the air still has a frosty bite to it, the scent of winter lingering… It won’t be long though, before it loosens its grip entirely. This winter’s day portrayed in this photograph, is one of the most memorable days of winter for me. And
A red squirrel in the Burren, is a rare sight. And a beautiful sight too that only brings joy. I am lucky to have this one visiting daily.
A red squirrel in the Burren.
I am told it’s a rare sign.
The robin always has something to say and it is always worth taking the time to listen.
