The sun was hanging low over the Burren mountains, when this beautiful mare decided I was someone worth investigating. She slowly moved up towards me, taking her time, as nature does, nibbling on grass along the way, until she was so close I could scratch her neck and stroke her head keeping my hand warm under her long forelock.
There is soul-touching treasures to be found in simply being with horses. If they, by their own choice comes up to you, and grace you with their presence, it is a gift enveloping your heart.

In Australia there is an amazing woman who understands the power of the presence of wild horses; the brumbies that has the Snowy mountains in Kosciuszko National Park in NSW as their home. You can feel the horses through her photographs and through her stories, which are both stunning, deeply moving and achingly tragic. She works under the name BRUMBY STRONG. And that she is. And. She needs our help to keep the few remaining iconic brumbies free. Wild. Alive.
Please go to her site @brumby_strong on Instragram and show her your support in any big or small way. It will mean so much.
If you have it in you to also follow the suggested actions to take to show the Australian Government, the NSW National Parks and RSPCA Australia that the world is watching and awareness is growing, this could be the only life line these horses have.
6 months ago, there was more than 5000 brumbies. Now there are less than 200 left.
Let’s do this!
