Swallow In Flight

Swallow In Flight.
Available as a notebook and soon to be eco friendly foldable card. Both size A5

I don’t know how I managed to capture this swallow in flight. But I did.

Today is the 2nd October and I woke to thunder and torrential rain.
The thunder has since ceased as the rain has increased. Without a break. The neigbours fields have turned into lakes and fast flowing wide streams.

The time for diving into more art and photography is coming closer. I can feel it tugging at me with excitement of what this winter’s world of art and creativity might bring and what new ideas is lying in wait readying themselves to unfold from the depths of the approaching long nights and gentle mornings waking by the light and heat from the stove pushing the nights cold air to the corners of the cottage.

What has this to do with fledged swallows? Not much. But I imagine these mift young ones you see further below might have had a quiver of excitement when they began to test their wings to carry them effortlessly through the air. I watched them get bolder and stronger, until the day it was time to start the long journey South. It’s always with a little pang in the heart, when they leave and with them their joyful ways, knowing all the dangers and challenges they will meet. I wish them well and despite my love for autumn and winter, I can’t wait to hear their excited little chirps when they return again next year. As long as the swallows returns, something is still right in the world.

Farewell little ones and good choice leaving before this wild wet downpour.
