Silent presences linger
In a white veil of spray
Carrying many a tale untold
Of a far away yesterday
Time passes
Much is no more
Although a mark remains
Deep in the hearts core
Words written
A last black trace
Of moments lived
Of new moments to face
The tides are changing
The way of life
A gentle touch of a feather
Or the clear cut of a knife
A leap into a different blue
Soaring on quiet wings
In the space between heartbeats
A new tale begins
~
Beautiful Hanne. The last verse is truly memorable – “soaring on quiet wings” are words that will stay with me all day today 🙂

Beautiful Hanne. The sea really has the power to beckon us doesnt it and yet that same feather like touch can crash down upon us with such force. A beautiful parallel to the tide we call “life”.
Have a beautiful weekend 🙂

Thank you, Leslie. What we call ‘life’ can indeed be read, felt and sometimes understood in the elements of the wild. The constant changing sea is fascinating to watch and does have a certain way of getting ‘under our skin’.
You have a beautiful weekend too 🙂

Hanne, this picture and your poem brought to mind a phrase from one of my favorite poets, Robinson Jeffers, “divinely superfluous beauty.”

Malcolm, after you introduced me to Jeffers, I must say although it’s still only a sparse look I’ve had into his writing I found much resonance. That a photograph of mine should bring to mind a phrase from one of his poems (and what a phrase!) makes me tremendously happy. Just read the poem and it is indeed very much along the same lines my thoughts wandered as I looked at the picture and wrote my own few words. Thank you for this comment and for bringing this poem of his to my awareness.
